America, this is your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

#OccupyWichita is a movement created to show support of the protest resistance movement known as OccupyWallStreet (occupywallst.org). It has been created to promote unity and solidarity among the 99% of our society who remain misrepresented, disenfranchised, and exploited by those in positions of power and wealth. This is a PEACEFUL protest movement meant to raise a voice across the nation for the... majority - we who bear the brunt of decisions made for our lives - those decisions in which we feel we have no voice.

The time is now for our collective voice to be heard.

We are the employed, unemployed, and underemployed. We are the blue collar, white collar, and no collar. We are those who have bought into the American Dream only to find out it's the greatest ponzie scam ever created. We are those who have been waiting... waiting for something, someone to finally make a move - rise up and say enough is enough. Someone has, and it's one unified voice that grows louder and farther.

We cannot stress enough that this is a peaceful, autonomous protest. We do not condone any physical or verbal violence to get our point across. #OccupyWichita, as well as the many branches springing up across the nation and internationally, are designed to create a platform for those who stand in solidarity and are yet unable to join the movement in New York City. Our mission is to educate the people of Wichita and raise our unified voice. This entire movement is in its early stages, and the growth and momentum depends upon persistence. We are by no means creating an agenda. We are simply providing a platform.
"Our nation, our species and our world are in crisis. The US has an important role to play in the solution, but we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies if our nation. We, the people of the United States of America, considering the crisis at hand, now reassert our sovereign control of our land." - Occupywallst.org

Something is wrong with our system. We feel powerless to fix it.

We don't have all the answers, but a system so broken that it requires the criminals that broke it in the first place to fix it is too complicated.

We have different ideologies. We have different desires.

But we want one thing. We demand one thing.

We want OUR government back.

We want a system that works for us, instead of against us. We want our elected officials to work to meet our needs. We want them to serve in the best interest of the people. If they can not serve the best interest of all of the people of this nation then they must resign.

We do not condone violent resistance. We want a peaceful resistance. A show of force, sheer numbers, demonstrating unity.

We out number those working against us. Let's show them that. NOW.

Open thread: Ask not what billionaires can do for you, ask what you can do for billionaires

Austerity Nut rides the New York City subways preaching the virtues of budget cuts, and the need for working-class sacrifice for the sake of our suffering brothers and sisters on Wall Street. He reminds riders, “Ask not what the billionaires in your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country’s billionaires.”

So you’re old (relatively), boring, and spending the winter camped out in a tent downtown isn’t particularly appealing. And all that’s fine: it is what it is and we can’t all be 20 forever.

But there are still ways to help the effort. The Occupy crowd has brought attention to the…

It’s funny how we use the most the most creative elements of our humanity to develop destructive and inhumane treatments of others, that we utilize our Godness to cast judgement on others when our Father the Creator has taught us to love.

I know that it’s rare for a positive thought, a selfless emotion, or collective ideal is promoted but I believe someone somewhere that you know needs to hear this. They need to know that our world is not ending but transitioning beholding the passing away of negativity, dissent, hopeless, and turmoil, it is only in these spaces, spaces in which the soil of the soul has been disturbed that it is primed to begin tilling thoughts of truth, plowing through propaganda disposing the obstructions we were told were valuable. We must replace these lifeless stumps with seeds of life, growth, and oneness. We are all descendants of the most high.  Only then can we begin irrigating our spirits with the nourishment and purity of the divine deep within the wells of hearts. And when this is accomplished we reclaim our place in the garden of Eden as the trees of life we were created to be. As we reconnect with Life, Love, and God.

Citibank Customers Locked Inside and Arrested for Trying to Close Their Accounts

Note: The woman outside, whom the police decided to arrest also because she had just been inside the bank, wasn’t even a fucking protester.

So apparently, it’s legal for a bank to lock its customers inside against their will until the police get there, and also legal for policemen to force people standing OUTSIDE back inside to then arrest them for “trespassing.” Oh. Good to know.

Seriously, fuck everything about this. Words do not even come close to my rage. As quoted on the video by YouTube user Klank123, “I don’t think the police could be anymore useless in this country if they tried.”

If you’re a member of a large bank and would like to take a pretty simple step in efforts to put an end to this bullshit, there’s the Move Your Money Project, which is (straight from the website) “a nonprofit campaign that encourages individuals and institutions to divest from the nation’s largest Wall Street banks and move to local financial institutions. Little has changed to prevent another financial crisis or to end ‘Too Big To Fail,’ and with Congress unwilling to act, we are encouraging individuals to take power into their own hands by voting with their dollars and no longer contributing to a financial system that has led our country astray. We are a campaign that gives people real, concrete actions they can take to create a more sane, stable and localized banking system.”

It’s a great way to actively protest, especially if you are not able to occupy anywhere, and you’ll be helping yourself in the long run because with credit unions and regional banks, you’ll get better service and will save yourself from monthly fees and everything else that comes along with banks like Shittibank here. It’s at least worth looking into. Just please be very careful and leery with regional banks. Some of them are owned by corporate banks and could prove to be a pointless change if you don’t do your homework and research. Credit unions will always be your safest option.
